We're more divided than ever — by neighborhood, income, politics, race, religion, background, and tolerance for cilantro. We've got a place to meet and help fix that. Come find out what you have in common with people and organizations you might not normally meet.
The Common Interest is a place for decent humans to get together and workshop how we can save the world — a big, beautiful property where people who don't usually end up in the same room can actually spend time together.
Lectures, dinners, conversations, performances, workshops, hikes in the lake out back, long walks. Work in the garden if you want. The point is to be around people who aren't just like you - different politics, different faiths, different backgrounds, different ages - and see if you can work together.
No bigots.
Pawling, NY — about 90 minutes from Manhattan, right next to the Appalachian Trail. Lots (and lots) of birds. Big old buildings, a chapel with stained glass, a lily pond, gardens, and Federal land on all sides, so the only neighbors you'll see are deer.
The space has been fixed up and is finally ready for people. It can host intimate gatherings or a full crowd for workshops, presentations, creation, or refuge.
Getting there: 90 minutes on Metro-North from Grand Central (plus a short cab ride), or about an hour by car from the GWB.
Everybody who's a) not an asshole and b) actually wants to fix things.
We're specifically trying to bring together people and groups working for the common good who might not normally meet. It feels weird to admit that eye-contact is a rare and endangered experience, but here we are. And we know that if we get together and work together we can make a difference.
Again, and we can't say this strongly enough, there's no room here for bigotry — but plenty of room for decent people with good intentions to get together and work things out.
If you've been wanting more of that in your life, and if you want to help build an org, you're probably the right person.
We're putting together the first gatherings now. Leave your email and we'll be in touch when something is actually happening.
✓ Got it. We'll be in touch.
